Feathers over Freeport birding event.
The annual Feathers over Freeport is an excellent way to introduce children (or yourself) to the adventures of birding. Activities for a wide-range of abilities are scheduled for each day of the weekend. Plan a full day in both parks to hike and explore. Bring along a picnic lunch! Guided bird walks each morning at 8 AM. (Check schedule for full details.)
Date: April 28 & 29, 2018
Location: Bradbury Mountain
Location: Wolfe’s Neck Woods
Park entry fees apply, all programs and activities included with paid park admission.
A wonderful opportunity for birders of all ages to explore the birds of Maine. Watch for migrating raptors from the top of Bradbury Mountain. Chat with fellow birders and naturalists while scanning the skies for bald eagles, buteos, hawks, and more.
Walk along the cliff trail along the Casco Bay and search for nesting osprey. Woodland birds abound in the forested areas along the trail. Bring binoculars to search out harbor seals.
Picnicking in both parks is a great way to share the outdoors with children. There are easy trails in both locations for really young children to explore.
