Great Egrets return to Maine.
It’s always fun to take a walk on the ‘wild side’. For us, that means a few special places we return to at different times of the year to experience the ever-changing landscape. Right now is the time of year to find the seasonal and migratory birds making their way home to Maine or using Maine as a stopover on their way north to breeding grounds in Canada.
The great egret is a summer visitor in Maine (just like you!) and spends its days fishing along the coast. They are regulars in the Scarborough Marsh. Check the tide charts for low tide and go for a walk on the wild side. This trail is mostly flat and wanders through the marsh and surrounding woodlands.
It’s also possible to bike this trail or rent a kayak at the marsh to paddle around.
