Project Time Off
Too many Americans leave valuable vacation time on the table every year. For some, it’s a case of ‘use it or lose it.’ Project Time Off looks to help get you organized well in advance to use your vacation. According to the latest research the folks in Idaho and New Hampshire are most in need of a vacation. (Really? New Hampshire? They’re right next door to Vacationland!) Who takes their vacation? Arkansas and Hawaii.
Do you leave vacation time on the table? Think things are too hectic at work to leave for a week? Move to Maine! Only 38% of Mainers don’t take their full complement of earned vacation time. Yes, having ‘Vacationland’ printed on our license plates has sunk in up here in the right hand corner of the country. We know that taking time off from the stressors of work is the way to go back to work refreshed and ready to meet the challenges.
If you’ve heard our story you know we are here because the company we worked for decided to pare down by 4000 employees. That was 50% of the work force. Who had vacation time saved up when that happened? Yup, it was Rock. Did foregoing 5 weeks of vacation keep him from being one of the people let go? Obviously not. Did the company shut down after he was gone? Well, I’d love to say they did, but they didn’t. Heck, even Steve Jobs got fired from the company he started. (I wonder if he had vacation time accrued?)
All that to say - take the vacation you earned. Although a majority of US workers get paid time off it really depends on where you work how much time you get. (In the US, paid vacation time ranges from being available to 55% - 75% of employees.)
I finally worked my way up to 5 weeks of vacation after 20 years. Believe me I took every day of it! No vacation left on the table by me.
Where are you going on vacation this year? Plan it now so the year doesn’t get away from you!
If Maine is on your list, be sure to look us up. We’re happy to help you make the most of your getaway. Here is just a sample of a 5 night vacation that we’ve organized for you. Don’t look back in December and wish you had taken time off.
